Old logging roads are the preferred habitat of the Lobster Mushroom. Decades ago, people’s feet, horses’ hooves and automobile wheels spread the spores of the Hypomyces, leaving colonies for hundreds of metres along the roads and roadsides. The same goes for campgrounds and chalets on sand where coniferous trees grow.
