Mixed maple groves are mainly composed of sugar maple and/or red maple, along with a lesser number of other species, such as beech, birch, oak, hemlock, pine, white or red spruce, and fir.
In addition to the decay fungi described for the pure maple grove, one can pick mycorrhizal fungi on the ground that are associated with the roots of beech, birch, oak, hemlock, pine, spruce and fir. In this way, the mixed maple grove has greater biodiversity.
