Tree species present in this habitat
White birch

Forests dominated by white birch can be of any kind as this tree grows after a major disturbance such as a fire, windthrow or clearcut. If there is a majority of conifers, the stand eventually evolves into a softwood-dominated population and, conversely, if broadleaf species are present, the stand will eventually be dominated by those.

Few mycorrhizal fungi are associated with white birch. Mushrooms of value fall into three main categories and can be collected from their stumps, trunks and branches. Ceps and Boletes can be found, thanks to the presence of coniferous trees growing among the birches.
