Forest edge
Consult other habitats

Often, mushrooms prefer to produce fruit bodies at the edge of the forest, in full light, slightly beyond the undergrowth. Young roots develop here, exchanging nutrients from the soil and associating with mycorrhizal fungi. Benefitting from more light, these trees on the edge of the forest make more nutritious sap that is enjoyed by mushrooms.
